i hadn't been planning on any halloween decorations for the yard besides a carved pumpkin, but scored a bag of tealights at a garage sale that morning and felt compelled to put them to good use. this is one of my favorite uses for vintage jars--simply lining up a mismatched group and dropping a candle into each one. i came up short on jars (and time) and didn't want to dig through boxes, so i few a couple of our everyday drinking glasses into the mix. so pretty!

lucy found them pretty enough, though she was more interested in a baking sheet holding the remainder of the candles. probably because the open flame was just
that much closer.
anyway. the jars look so pretty on the railing, they're staying put until after hudson's birthday party this weekend. i might even find some pretty little things to stick inside of them--we're taking a quick trip to one of our favorite farms tomorrow morning to pick up a truckload of birthday things. should be fun. we just can't get enough of all things autumn this year. stay tuned!
